Súlur trailhead car park
Gravel car park at the end of Súluvegur, where the trail up Akureyri's home mountain starts. It sits on open moorland above most of the street lights, and you can watch from the car park without any hike.

Before you go
Do not start up the Súlur trail at night in winter: it is a mountain hike. The gravel road can be icy or drifted; check conditions first.
Dress for standing still in the cold, bring a head torch with a red light, and park only where parking is allowed. A forecast is guidance, not a promise: check the road and weather warnings for Iceland before a night drive. See our winter safety note.
